Brother Knights,
The Andale Knights of Columbus met Wednesday, October 14th at 8:00 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The following was discussed.
Turkey Shoot: This year our K of C Turkey Shoot will be on Sunday, November 8th. Please choose a committee to sign up for a shift and reach out to the corresponding chairperson. This is one of the larger efforts that support our annual council cost so please make yourself available and plan to spend time with brother Knights to raise funds for our council.
Kitchen: Cole Horner (316) 650-2077
Trap: Curt Martin (316) 217-1025
Bar: Buck Hein (316) 796-1534
Pitch: Neil Betzen (316) 650-5310
We will also have a raffle and could use some help gathering prizes. If you know of a business or family that would like to donate raffle prizes, please contact Brandon Winter (316) 619-6231.
Memorial Mass: This years Memorial Mass will be Saturday, November 14th at the 5pm Mass. The Knights will lead the rosary for the families of the deceased prior to Mass and there will be dinner in the parish hall immediately following.
Stewardship Fair: Come on out to the parish hall on October 25th for the annual Stewardship Fair and Chili Cookoff! Doors open at 3pm, chili judging at 4:15 pm, and Dinner at 5pm. This is a great way to visit with all the different committees in our parish and get involved.
Culture of Life Breakfast: We are planning to host this year’s Culture of Life Breakfast on Sunday, December 13th in conjunction with a bake sale hosted by the March for Life students. This is one of our annual fundraisers for the Pro-Life initiative.
Religion Day: On November 2nd in lieu of Renwick classes during an in-service, St. Joseph Andale Parish is having a full day religion class for all children in religion programs throughout Renwick. All school kids are invited and encouraged to attend.
Religious Education Raffle: Post meeting, we were able to hit our goal of selling all 13 tickets for this great cause. Thank you to all who purchased and good luck on winning one of the many substantial prizes.
K of C Hall: A large portion of the meeting was spent discussing the council’s continual challenges to financially support our building. Despite fundraising efforts and initiatives to produce recurring revenue streams, we find ourselves in a deficit each quarter after addressing operating cost (insurance, property taxes, utilities.) We have been fortunate up to this point with the efforts of highly committed members and their dedication to the council, but the long-term sustainability must be considered. There will be more meetings to come on this but as options are being discussed, the members in attendance voted unanimously to obtain a property appraisal and evaluate next steps as we continue to evaluate our options.
Opportunities for Involvement
Bartending Events: It has been almost a year since we began advertising our council for bartending services. Since then, we have served at 8 weddings, 1 anniversary party, and raised over $6,000.00. It is a great time and a fun way to spend time with other Brother Knights. Ideally, we would like to have 8-9 volunteers per event and work in shifts, so please reach out to Ryan Bergkamp at 316-641-4824 if you can help.
Brother Justin Reichenberger and his family are taking care of cleaning and booking the hall for rentals. If you need to rent the hall or know someone who does, please give them Justin’s number 316-258-1170.
Our next Council meeting will be on Nov 11, 2026 at 8:00 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Come join us!
Congratulations:
September Knight of the Month: Moe Lallement
September Family of the Month: Andy and Annie Coiner
